The Wall Builder

by Kimani Upshur, M.Ed.

The Wall Builder retells Nehemiah's story for teenagers — a palace cupbearer with no title and no team who heard that Jerusalem lay in ruins, wept and prayed over it, and led ordinary people to rebuild the entire wall in fifty-two days. Built on the triad Vision. Grit. Finish., it shows how a burden becomes a blueprint: the bold ask, the quiet night inspection, and the rallying cry that turned spectators into builders. It then faces leadership under fire — mockery, threats, injustice inside the walls, and the famous refusal to come down from a great work — before ending with the joy that is a builder's strength. Written in straight talk for teens ages 13-18, with one honest "Your move this week" practice in every chapter. Written from a Christian worldview — Scripture first.
