Privacy Policy
The short version
- This website runs no advertising trackers and no analytics scripts, and the website itself sets no cookies.
- We collect an email address only if you sign up for the free daily devotional — and we use it to send you that devotional and the occasional recommendation described below.
- Our email service, MailerLite, stores the subscriber list and sends the emails for us. Like most email services, MailerLite records whether emails are opened and which links are clicked; that processing is described in this policy and in MailerLite's own privacy policy.
- We do not sell books directly on this website and never see your payment card information. Purchases happen on the retailers' own sites.
- Our free apps save your entries on your own device, not on our servers.
What we collect and why
1. The daily devotional email list
If you sign up for the free daily devotional, we collect your email address — nothing else is asked for on the form.
- Double opt-in: After you sign up, we send a confirmation email. You are only added to the list after you click the confirmation link, so an address cannot be added by someone else.
- What you receive: The devotional is free, and no purchase is ever required to receive it.
- Daily: one short devotional email each morning — Scripture, encouragement, reflection, and prayer.
- Weekly: up to one recommendation of a relevant Christian book or free faith-based app.
- Occasionally: announcements of Christian books, devotionals, and other mission-aligned resources.
- We do not send unrelated advertising, and we do not use aggressive sales tactics or misleading claims in these emails.
- How we use your address: Your email address is used to deliver the messages described above. The list is managed for us by MailerLite, the email service that stores the subscriber list and sends the emails on our behalf.
- What MailerLite processes: MailerLite's standard email tracking is enabled by default. It records whether an email was opened (using a small invisible image placed in the email) and which links in the email were clicked, and it provides us with reports on opens, clicks, and opens by location. We use these reports only to understand whether the devotional is reaching and serving our readers. This is processing by MailerLite as our email service provider, under MailerLite's own privacy policy — it is separate from this website, which runs no tracking of its own. You can limit open tracking by disabling image loading in your email app.
- Unsubscribe anytime: You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email, and you can also write to us at the contact address below and ask to be removed.
2. Emails you send us
The contact method on this website is email: kimani@kimaniupshur.com. If you write to us — with a question, or about a bulk or church order — we receive your email address and the contents of your message, and we use them to read and respond to you. Our business email is handled through Google's email services.
3. Our free apps
Our apps are tools (journals, planners, trackers, study aids). What you type into an app — journal entries, plans, progress — is saved in your own browser's local storage on your device. The apps do not send that information to us, and we cannot see it. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
4. Information we do not collect on this website
- No account registration — there are no user accounts on this site.
- No payment information — this site has no shopping cart and no checkout.
- No analytics or advertising profiles — this site loads no Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or similar tracking scripts, and it sets no cookies of its own.
This website is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub may keep standard technical logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) as part of operating the service, under GitHub's own privacy policy. We do not control those logs and do not use them to build profiles of visitors.
Buying our books
Book purchase buttons on this site link out to independent retailers — Amazon, Apple Books, Google Play Books, Gumroad, and Payhip. When you buy a book:
- The sale happens on that retailer's website, under that retailer's privacy policy.
- The retailer handles your payment and order information. We do not directly collect payment card details through kimaniupshur.com, and we never receive your card information.
- Gumroad and Payhip process checkout for the books they sell on our behalf.
Amazon affiliate disclosure: Some Amazon links on this site are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, Upshur Unlimited, LLC earns from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no extra cost to you. Amazon handles the transaction and any information involved under its own privacy policy.
Voluntary support: The homepage includes a link to our Cash App profile for readers who wish to support the work voluntarily. If you give that way, Cash App processes the transaction under its own privacy policy; we receive the support through Cash App, not through this website.
Embedded services on our pages
Two outside services appear inside our pages, and each is governed by its own privacy policy:
- MailerLite — the devotional signup form is embedded from MailerLite and loaded from MailerLite's systems.
- YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) — a book trailer on one page is embedded from YouTube using its privacy-enhanced ("no-cookie") domain.
This site also links to our YouTube channel and other social accounts. If you interact with us there, those platforms handle your information under their own policies.
How long we keep information
- Devotional list: You remain on the active devotional list until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing stops both devotional and promotional mailings to you, subject to brief processing delays.
- After unsubscribing: We retain only the records reasonably necessary to verify consent, to meet compliance obligations, and to make sure an address that has unsubscribed is not emailed again.
- Access and deletion requests: We honor verified requests to access or delete your information, subject to applicable legal or operational retention requirements. Because service-provider records or lawful retention requirements may apply, we do not promise that every record can be deleted immediately or completely.
- Emails you send us: Business correspondence is retained only as reasonably necessary for communication, business records, and legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
- Unsubscribe from the devotional at any time using the link in any email.
- Ask about your information: If you signed up for the devotional or emailed us, you may contact us at the address below to request access to the information we hold about you, request a correction where applicable, or request deletion (subject to the retention limits described above). We will respond to verified requests.
- App data: Your app entries live on your device; you can erase them anytime by clearing your browser's site data for kimaniupshur.com.
