The House on the Rock

For Children • Ages 6–12

This is the story Jesus told at the very end of His most famous sermon — the Sermon on the Mount — told straight from Matthew chapter 7, verses 24 to 27. It is written to be read aloud, one short chapter at a time; each chapter takes about five minutes, with three illustrations in every chapter.

Notice the two keys Jesus gives at the start of the story: hear, and do. Lots of people heard Jesus that day. The difference between the two builders was never what they knew. It was what they did with what they knew. That is a truth children can practice in very small, very real ways — and this book keeps handing them chances.

Every chapter ends with a Do or a Pray — one small action for the week, and a short prayer your child can say out loud. Jesus' whole point in this story is that hearing must turn into doing, and these endings are where His story moves from long ago and far away into your child's own life. At the very end of the book is a special invitation: how your child can give their life to Jesus.

For children, ages 6–12. The key verse of this story is Matthew 7:24, where Jesus describes the person who hears His words — and does them. That is the child this book is helping you raise: a builder on the Rock.

Written from a Christian worldview — Scripture first.
