The Coin in the Fish

Jesus Provides in the Most Surprising Way

by Kimani Upshur, M.Ed.

When Peter is asked whether Jesus pays the temple tax, Jesus sends him to the lake with a surprising instruction: cast a hook, open the first fish you catch, and find the exact coin needed inside its mouth. Young readers follow Peter from worry to wonder and learn that Jesus provides — sometimes in the most surprising way. A gentle story about trusting God's care for everyday needs, drawn from Matthew 17.

Written for children ages 6–12, this book has ten chapters, each with three illustrations (30 in all) and a "Do" activity and a "Pray" prayer to close. All Scripture is quoted from the King James Version (KJV). It ends with a Gospel Invitation that helps a child understand how to begin following Jesus, plus a note for grown-ups.
