The Apostle

by Kimani Upshur, M.Ed.

He tried to destroy the church. Then he built it. Saul of Tarsus was the early church's worst enemy — a zealous Pharisee who dragged Christians from their homes and approved the stoning of Stephen. Then, on the road to Damascus, he met the risen Jesus. Blinded, broken, and remade, he became Paul the apostle: missionary to the nations, planter of churches, and author of thirteen New Testament letters that have shaped Christianity for two thousand years. In The Apostle, Kimani Upshur, M.Ed., traces Paul's extraordinary journey in plain, powerful language — from persecutor to preacher, from the Damascus road to a Roman prison. You will walk with him through the missionary journeys, stand with him before kings and mobs, and open his letters with fresh understanding of the grace that changed everything. Every chapter is grounded in Scripture — verified against the biblical text, honest about the hard passages, and clear about where interpretation begins. No invented stories. No dodged difficulties. Just the apostle, as the Bible presents him: called before he was born, changed on a desert road, and sent to the ends of the earth. Whether you are meeting Paul for the first time or returning to an old friend, this book will show you why his story is your story — and why the grace that remade him is still remaking lives today.
