Daughters of the Promise

by Kimani Upshur, M.Ed.

From Eve to Phoebe, the promise of God has always traveled through daughters. Daughters of the Promise: Women of Scripture and Their Place in God's Story walks through twelve women — Eve, Sarah and Hagar, Rebekah and Rachel and Leah, Tamar, Miriam and Deborah, Ruth, Hannah and Abigail, Esther, Mary the mother of Jesus, Mary Magdalene and the women of the resurrection morning, Lydia, Priscilla, and Phoebe — showing how each one stands in the redemptive arc, not as a moral example only but as a carrier of the promise. Written in plain, warm language for women and men alike, each chapter opens with Scripture, teaches the passage honestly — naming hard things without flinching and never inventing what the text does not say — and closes with reflection and application. The rhythm of every chapter is three words: Seen. Chosen. Sent.
