2 Corinthians Made Simple

Second Corinthians is Paul with his heart open — and 2 Corinthians Made Simple walks through his most personal letter one chapter a day, carrying its whole message in three words: Comfort. Reconcile. Give. Comfort — the letter opens with suffering met by God's comfort, and comfort received becomes comfort shared. The God of all comfort meets Paul in affliction so heavy he despaired of life itself; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom; and the treasure is carried in jars of clay, so the surpassing power is plainly God's. Reconcile — if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away. God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, entrusts us with the ministry of reconciliation: ambassadors for Christ, imploring the world to be reconciled to God. Now is the day of salvation — and godly grief produces repentance that leads to salvation without regret. Give — the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for our sake He became poor, becomes the pattern for cheerful giving: each one giving as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion. And God is able to make all grace abound, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, we may abound in every good work — until the letter closes under its benediction of grace, love, and fellowship. 2 Corinthians Made Simple is part of THE MADE SIMPLE FRAMEWORK by Kimani Upshur, M.Ed.
